Yellow-jackets, can be found in high concentrations in Georgia.  A very aggresive member of the wasp family, yellow jackets have a lance-like stinger with small barbs and typically sting repeatedly.  It will mark aggressors, and will pursue them if provoked. The German Yellowjacket, a non-native species is even more aggressive than the Eastern yellow jacket and is rapidly overtaking their populations.  While a fond mascot of Georgia Tech, you don't want these around your home!

Cockroach, Cockroaches are the most common household pest.  Feeding on human and pet food, and can leave an offensive odor in your home^. House Centipede, A key trait of this creature is a pair of venom claws or forcipules formed from a modified first appendage, it can be dangerous to small children and those with allergies to bee stings. The bite of larger centipedes can induce anaphylactic shock in such people. This is somewhat rare, and many people like to eradicate this pest due to appearance alone.  Ew Gross!

Fire ants, fire ants bite to grip their prey and then sting from the abdomen, injecting a toxic venom. For humans, this is a painful sting, similar to being burned. The after effects of the sting can be deadly to sensitive individuals.  Stepping on a fire ant mound can result in being swarmed by hundreds of angry stinging insects.   Diligence is required to rid your yard of these dangerous insects, some underground tunnels are over 100 yards long.

Ticks, are parasites that live on the blood of mammals and birds.  They spread Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever and other tick-borne diseases.

The termites lifestyle of remaining concealed often results in their presence being undetected until the timbers of homes are severely damaged and exhibit surface changes. Once termites have entered a building, they do not limit themselves to wood; they also damage paper, cloth, carpets and other cellulosic materials.  This is the reason it is important to keep your home protected at all times from this pest.
